Two things decide your size: your body weight, and whether you are hitting a bag or a person. As a guide, a 70 kg adult uses 12oz for bag and pad work and 16oz for sparring. For your exact size, our AI Glove Size Finder asks six quick questions and takes under a minute.

The ounce number is the weight of the padding in each glove, not the size of your hand. Gloves are not sized small, medium or large. More ounces means more padding and more protection; fewer means a lighter, faster glove. This is the mistake we see most often — people look for a clothing size, then guess a number.

Children's gloves are sized by body weight, not by age. Two ten-year-olds of different builds need different gloves, which is why age charts are unreliable. Our AI Glove Size Finder accepts weights from 20 kg, so it works for children as well as adults.

Your sparring size is always heavier than your training size. A 70 kg adult typically uses 12oz on the bag and 16oz for sparring. Sparring gloves are heavier to protect the person you are hitting, not you — the extra padding spreads the force of a punch over a wider area.

Buy your sparring size. A 16oz glove works on bags, pads and in sparring, while a 12oz glove has too little padding to protect a partner. Our customers most often order 12oz, 14oz and 16oz. If you are unsure which is yours, the AI Glove Size Finder will tell you.

Yes, but a Muay Thai cut will suit you better. Boxing gloves hold a tighter, more locked fist shape built for punching alone. Muay Thai gloves open the hand more, so you can catch kicks, clinch and grab. For bag work either is fine; for clinch work the difference is noticeable.

Muay Thai gloves are cut to open the hand more, so you can catch kicks, clinch and grab. Boxing gloves hold a tighter fist shape for punching alone. If you train Muay Thai, kickboxing or MMA striking, choose a Muay Thai cut. If you box only, either works.

Yes. Hand wraps protect the small bones and tendons in your hand and wrist, and gloves alone do not. Wraps also absorb the sweat that would otherwise soak into the glove lining, which matters a great deal in UAE humidity. They are far cheaper to replace than gloves.

In the UAE's humidity, gloves hold moisture inside and take much longer to dry — trapped sweat is what causes the smell. Take them out of your bag the moment you finish, pull the lining open, and dry them in moving air, never direct sunlight. Wearing wraps stops most of the sweat reaching the glove.

Glove life depends far more on how they are dried than on how often they are used. Gloves left damp in a closed bag break down quickly; gloves opened up and dried in moving air after every session last considerably longer. Never leave them in a parked car — UAE summer heat degrades the padding.

A beginner needs two things: gloves and hand wraps. Wraps go on first and protect the small bones in your hand; gloves go over them. If your gym includes sparring or kicking, you will also need shin guards and a mouthguard. Everything else can wait until you know you are continuing.

Yes, if you spar or do partner drills. Shin guards are not needed for bag work alone. Most gyms require them before allowing any contact sparring. Check with your gym before your first sparring session, since requirements vary.
